Simulcasting One Production to YouTube, LinkedIn and a Player

One product launch. Marketing wants YouTube for reach. Sales wants LinkedIn because that is where the buyers are. The events team wants a branded player because that is the only place a registration form and eight dubbing tracks can live. All three are reasonable. All three can run off a single feed from the venue. What differs is what each destination is good at, and what each one quietly takes away from you.
Three destinations, three sets of rules
The contribution side does not change. One feed leaves the venue, hits MAIN, gets transcoded once, and fans out. The differences are all on the destination side, and they are worth understanding before you pick.
YouTube gives you the largest addressable reach, unlimited duration, a durable public archive and the best playback experience on low-end Android devices. It also puts your audience one click from a recommendation feed, gives you almost no attributable lead data, and can mute or interrupt a stream over a music rights claim while the event is running.
LinkedIn Live puts the stream in front of a professional audience with the highest comment quality of the three. It needs provider approval configured in advance, has tighter bitrate expectations than YouTube, and its archive behaviour is weaker. Treat it as a live reach channel, not a library.
A branded player is the only destination you actually control. It can sit behind a registration wall, carry 40+ dubbing language tracks, run custom overlays and polls, and produce first-party attendee data. Its capacity is tested at 13.87 Gbit/s, roughly 5,550 concurrent viewers at 2.5 Mbps. What it does not have is organic discovery. Nobody stumbles into it.
The practical answer for most events is not to pick one. It is to name a primary destination and treat the other two as feeders into it.

Single ingest, multiple egress
The venue sends one stream. MAIN transcodes once and pushes to each destination in its required format. Venue uplink usage does not increase when you add a fourth destination.
Per-destination profiles
Each platform gets its own bitrate, keyframe interval and aspect handling. Overlays are rendered per destination, so a registration prompt appears only where it is relevant.

Comments from YouTube, LinkedIn and the branded player land in one moderation console. One person watches one screen instead of three tabs on three laptops.
Gated branded player
Registration wall, language switcher, polls, downloadable resources and per-viewer analytics. This is the destination that turns viewers into records you can follow up.
Setting up a simulcast
Name the primary destination
Decide whether the goal is reach or lead capture. Everything else follows from that one answer, including where the call to action points and which URL goes on the invite.
Get platform access sorted two weeks out
LinkedIn Live access, channel verification for long-form YouTube streams and page admin permissions all take longer than expected. None of it can be fixed on show day.
Build overlays that survive 360p on a phone
Design lower-thirds and slides to be legible at the lowest rung of the ladder. What reads well in a preview window on a 27-inch monitor often does not read at all on a phone on 4G.
Clear the music before you go live
Walk-in music, video stings and stock tracks are the most common cause of an automated rights claim mid-event. Use licensed or cleared audio and log the licences.
What usually goes wrong
Metrics get added together. A YouTube view, a LinkedIn view and a branded player session measure three different things with three different thresholds, and none of them are comparable. Adding them produces a headline number that survives one leadership meeting and then falls apart under any scrutiny. We report them separately, with the counting rule stated next to each, plus one honest cross-platform figure: total watch minutes. Watch minutes are comparable, unglamorous and actually useful. If somebody insists on a single reach number, we will produce one with a footnote explaining exactly what it does and does not include.
The second problem is loss of control. Social platforms can interrupt your stream and you have no realtime recourse. An automated copyright claim on walk-in music can mute a segment. A stream can be flagged and taken down while three hundred people are watching. There is no support number that resolves this in ninety seconds. So the branded player is not just a lead-capture tool, it is the resilient path: it is the destination we control, it is where the recording is guaranteed, and it is where we point people when a platform misbehaves. Run social for reach, but never let the only copy of your event live somewhere you cannot reach the admin console.
Common questions
Can we run multilingual dubbing on YouTube and LinkedIn too?
Not in the way the branded player does. Multi-audio track support on live social streams is limited and inconsistent. The realistic options are separate per-language streams to separate social destinations, which multiplies production overhead, or keeping the language switcher on the branded player and using social for the primary language. We usually recommend the second.
Does simulcasting to three places cost three times as much?
No. There is one venue crew, one contribution feed and one transcode. The additional cost is marginal egress to each destination plus the setup and moderation time per platform. In INR terms, the third destination typically adds a small percentage to the streaming line, not a multiple.
What happens if one platform fails during the event?
The other destinations are unaffected, because each egress path is independent of the others. Our monitoring alerts on a per-destination basis, so the control room knows within seconds which platform stopped accepting the feed. The standard response is to push viewers to the branded player through a chat message and a pinned comment.
